Well, the day has arrived for our departure to Rwanda for 10 days with Africa New Life. We are checked in and relaxing in the Delta Sky Club awaiting boarding for the first flight to JFK.
As we anticipate the first leg of our trip, God put Psalm 46:10 on my heart. Most have probably heard this verse and many know it by heart. The NIV translation is probably best known in our culture:
“He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.””
Psalm 46:10 NIV

This scripture is a hopeful command and one that brings peace for the journey. It also serves as a reminder that He is Lord of all and will be exalted not only in the States🇺🇸 and Rwanda🇷🇼, but "even to the remotest part of the earth."
As God reminded me of it, I wanted to read the verse in full and upon opening the Bible app on my phone, it was set to the NASB translation that we have been using in our Passion Global Institute/ Dallas Theological Seminary class on Methods of Bible Study. That translation was even more powerful for me:
“"Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."”
Psalms 46:10 NASB

"Cease striving". Stop trying. Be still. Our DTS Bible study tool, Logos, has a reference of, "Let go, relax" and "to grow slack". Cease striving seemed a gentle command to let go of the craziness of the travel itinerary, transportation logistics and work left behind. Breathe. Relax. Let go of striving and rest in the Lord. Such a powerful reminder of His faithfulness to take care of us, not only through resting in Him, but also in reminding us when we need it. Cease striving.
How reassuring that we are not to rely on our own strength. Be still.
And now we begin this journey with open hands to whatever the Lord has in store. Resting in Him. We're grateful.
